Description
This amulet was designed to be suspended by a cord passing through the hole above its back. This type of hippo figurine is distinctive because it depicted pregnant females hippopotami. This last observation is evident by from the swollen belly that nearly touches the ground; most hippo statuettes do not display this feature.

An interesting comparable date to the Naqada I–early Naqada II periods is kept at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (23.2.30). - (ES.6840)
